Flangetermineringen bruges, ligesom den ledende terminering, primært til at absorbere signalbølger, der transmitteres til enden af kredsløbet, forhindre signalrefleksion i at påvirke kredsløbet og sikre kredsløbssystemets transmissionskvalitet.
Flangetermineringen har den egenskab, at den er nem at installere sammenlignet med patch-modstande på grund af dens flange og monteringshuller på flangen.
